Nutrition Information is not hard to find. In fact we suffer from nutrition information overload. The problem is not that we don't know what to do, but rather, we don't do what we know.

One of todays biggest problems is that of portion size. It seems if you like to eat out, not only do you not really know what is in the food, but serving sizes keep increasing. Every single person has a maintenance level. This is the number of calories you need to eat to maintain your weight.

If your goal is fat loss you will need to decrease your calories down from your maintenance level by 25%. There are several ways to do this, here at NZ Personal Training we will show you the most efficient way to do this, without starving yourself, wiithout eating obscure foods, and without going hungry.

Breakfast for Everyone

Don't be a breakfast skipper.. If you find it hard to eat in the morning, you need to retrain your body, start with a small piece of fruit or fruit smoothie, a good start in the morning will make all the difference at the end of the day.

If there was only one nutrition information tip we could give, it would be this. Make sure most of the food you eat comes from unprocessed sources. Is the food you're about to eat, the way nature intended it? Does it appear in it's most natural state. If you want a high quality body, you need to eat high quality foods. If a food did not exist 1,000 years ago chances are it may not be the best choice.

Remember life is about balance, follow the 80:20 rule, if you eat unprocessed or minimally processed foods 80% of the time, you can treat yourself the other 20% of the time. There is no need to give up treats, just don't make them the main part of your nutrition.

All the exercise in the world will not help if the quality of the foods you eat is poor. Fitness nutrition is equally important to exercise. Think of food as fuel, your body as your engine. If you want it to run smoothly and efficiently and give you many years of service, you need to put A grade fuel into it.

Now that you are exercising, there are some small adjustments you can make, such as an increase in protein and making sure you have enough high quality carbohydrates are essential to make sure your workouts really count.
